In 2011, at a wedding reception, Tyler Monson’s friend, Aaron, asked if he’d be interested in helping with tent setups for a local rental company in central Minnesota. Tyler, heading into his sophomore year at SCSU, said yes, and found himself hooked.
Under Aaron’s mentorship, Tyler quickly learned that tent installs were about much more than raising some vinyl. Each job brought a new location, different challenges, and often required quick thinking and creative solutions.
What guests saw was a clean, elegant tent. What they didn’t see were the hours of work and cleaning, the problem-solving, and the behind-the-scenes hustle which made it all happen.
Within two years, Tyler was managing all tent installations and teardowns, on top of working 200 hours per month at a landscaping job. It was a demanding time of life, but one that built the foundation for what would become Sartell Tent Rental.
The most challenging part was working late nights and most of the weekends, which is inevitable in this business. It was a sacrifice of personal time that few people are willing to make during the limited summer months.
In 2017, the company changed hands, and Tyler stepped up to guide the new owners through the ins and outs of the tent rental business.
Only a year later, he and his wife Alyssa launched their own venture: Sartell Tent Rental. Their mission was simple, build a business centered on lifelong customer satisfaction. From day one, they focused on making the rental experience seamless, transparent, and stress-free for anyone planning an event.
Sartell Tent Rental is owned and operated by Tyler Monson, an experienced tent installer. Since 2011, Tyler has set up 500+ tents throughout central Minnesota.
Tyler and Alyssa live on the north side of Sartell with their Siberian Husky, Raven. Both work full-time at Virnig Manufacturing in Rice and share a simple belief: if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.
That mindset, paired with a strong work ethic and genuine excitement for helping others, drives everything they do with Sartell Tent Rental.
